PROJECT NAME: The Octagon (...but with EIGHT* sides. Maximum effort)

GOAL: Construct a functional military memorial

PURPOSE: Honor those who have served, are serving, will serve, and their support structures (family and friends)

CHARACTER BACKSTORY: Due to relocations, the character has transitioned through 4 schools, 2 cub packs, 2 troops and 2 states in 8 years. Character reigns from a family of military/first responder people with somewhat good comedic timing and a high standard for community service. Character hopes to achieve Eagle Rank through hard work and primarily inaccurate Bill Clinton impressions (subject to appropriate scout censorship).

QUOTE: “My great-grandfather, great-uncles, great-aunt, grandfather, uncles, many cousins, and most inspirationally, my father, have served in the military in different branches, capacities, and different lengths of time. I was inspired by their sacrifices and wanted to honor them and provide a space that the community could benefit from and would want to bring their loved ones to enjoy a great park even more. If only there was more Tardis parking - that’d be Shiny!”

SIDE QUESTS**:

• Install and test theft and vandalism deterrents

• Eat ice cream while swinging on the benches and singing, “Take me Home, Country Roads.”

• Gentlepersons battle on stage for pride, utilizing nothing but plasma weapons

• Geolocation exercise for D.B. Cooper

• Take a picture of The Octagon from the national space station while whistling, “Twinkle, Twinkle little project.”

NOTE: There are many other ways to contribute to the adventure.  I am really proud of my book.  It's a riveting and lively overview of the scouting experience with multiple amazing contributors and viewpoints!  Scouting is for every kid (and even fun for the adults, too)!

*:Yes, I am aware that an octagon has eight sides.  It is a silly statement and reference to a move.  Iykyk.

**: Side Quests are not imperative to the main objective and are supplied for comedic reasons.  I don't anticipate of locating D.B. Cooper but I'm down to try if anyone has a helicopter and some time!
